Compare the2026 Kia EV6VS 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Kia EV6 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Jeep Wagoneer S has not been tested.

Both the EV6 and Wagoneer S have rear cross-traffic warning, but the EV6 has Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Wagoneer S’ Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the EV6 and the Wagoneer S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The EV6 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Wagoneer S’ 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the EV6 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Wagoneer S. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Wagoneer S ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Kia vehicles are better in initial quality than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia above average in initial quality. With 5 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 14 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The EV6 can travel longer on a full charge than the Wagoneer S on a full charge:

The EV6 has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Wagoneer S doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

The EV6 stops much shorter than the Wagoneer S:

For better traction, the EV6 GT-Line e-AWD’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Wagoneer S (255/45R20 vs. 235/50R20).

The EV6 GT-Line e-AWD’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer S’ 50 series tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EV6’s wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer than on the Wagoneer S (114.2 inches vs. 113 inches).

The EV6 Wind e-AWD handles at .85 G’s, while the Wagoneer S Limited 4dr Sport Utility pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The EV6 Wind e-AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1 seconds quicker than the Wagoneer S Limited 4dr Sport Utility (26.1 seconds @ .72 average G’s vs. 27.1 seconds @ .72 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the EV6’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the Wagoneer S’ (38.2 feet vs. 40 feet).

The Kia EV6 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1100 to 1550 pounds less than the Jeep Wagoneer S.

The EV6 is 7.6 inches shorter than the Wagoneer S, making the EV6 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The EV6 has 3.5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Wagoneer S (103 vs. 99.5).

The EV6 has 1 inch more front headroom, 1.1 inches more front legroom, .4 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom and 1 inch more rear legroom than the Wagoneer S.

The front step up height for the EV6 is 1.2 inches lower than the Wagoneer S 4dr Sport Utility (16.6” vs. 17.8”).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the EV6 easier. The EV6’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 28.6 inches, while the Wagoneer S’ liftover is 30.2 inches.

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the EV6’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the EV6 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Jeep doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Wagoneer S.

The EV6 GT-Line’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Wagoneer S’ automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The EV6 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The EV6 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2023. The Wagoneer S has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
